There are 428 colors to paint your ship with in Avorion.
In previous updates one was required to collect colors that dropped from destroyed ships, either through their death or scrapping. You could even pick up the same color twice. You used to start with 33 colors.
Fun fact: Some colors are so similar they are indiscernible (for example, Red and Eternal Red, or Azure and Alice Blue).
Fun fact #2: All material types are present in color names.
